Compare and Contrast Opinion Piece

Part One: Look at both cartoons. Make a comparison and contrast list for both pictures. Then complete the journal.


Journal: How do these pictures provide different views of what honors the president has earned? What do each of the articles seem to be saying about the cartoonist's view of Obama? What specific details from the cartoons support these ideas? Are both views reasonable?
Part 2: You will be finding two opinion/editorial articles about the same issue or topic. Then you compare and contrast the ideas from both articles.

• Identify two news sources that have written about the same topic in their editorial page. One sources will be USA Today and the other is from your own research.
  • One source must be from USA Today
  • Include a quote from each article
  • Include a citation for the article with a a hyperlink
  • If you can, include a picture that illustrates your idea
  • Use the Compare/Contrast Guide from Read/Write/Think
